POSITIVE ACTION – GRADE 2 LESSONS

Unit 1-Self-Concept: Its Definition, Formation and Importance.
Lesson 1: To introduce the Positive Action program and explain negative and positive actions.
Lesson 2 – To introduce self-concept, define it as how you see yourself, and make students aware that everyone has a self concept.
Lesson 6: To introduce the Thoughts- Actions- Feelings Circle and discuss the idea that you can improve the way you feel about yourself with positive actions.
 
Unit 2- Physical and Intellectual Positive Actions for a Healthy Self- Concept
Lesson 23: To introduce the first part of Unit 2 -Physical Positive Actions.
Lesson 31: To introduce the positive action of using medicines correctly.
Lesson 32: To introduce the positive action for avoiding things that harm your body.
Lesson 35: To introduce the second part of Unit 2- Intellectual Positive Actions.
Lesson 39: To introduce the positive actions of decision- making and problem-solving.
 
Unit 3- Managing Yourself Using Social/ Emotional Positive Actions
Lesson 43: To introduce Unit 3- Managing Yourself Using Social and Emotional Positive Actions.
Lesson 44:To introduce and define the eight gifts everyone has: time, energy, possessions, money, talents, thoughts, actions and feelings.
Lesson 45: To introduce the concept of choice in using positive and negative actions.
Lesson 58: To introduce the positive action of managing your gift of feelings and to practice identifying feelings of love, anger, worry, jealousy, pride, fear, loneliness, thankfulness, and discouragement.
 
Unit 4- Getting Along With Others Using Social/ Emotional Positive Actions
Lesson 73: To introduce Unit 4- Getting Along with Others Using Social/Emotional Positive Actions.
Lesson 74: To create a Classroom Code of Conduct based on students’ ideas of how they like to be treated and to reinforce that you treat other the way you like to be treated.
Lesson 75: To reinforce the ways students like to be treated on the Classroom Code of Conduct and to allow students to create a Personal Code of Conduct.
 
Unit 5- Telling Yourself the Truth Using Social/Emotional Positive Actions.
Lesson 93: To introduce Unit 5- Telling Yourself the Truth Using Social/Emotional Positive Actions.
Lesson 98: To introduce the positive action of telling yourself the truth by refusing to blame others and accepting responsibility for your actions.
Lesson 104: To introduce the positive action of telling yourself the truth by recognizing your strengths and weaknesses.
 
Unit 6- Improving Yourself Continually Using Social/Emotional Positive Actions
Lesson 113: To introduce Unit 6- Improving Yourself Continually Using Social/ Emotional Positive Actions.
Lesson 125: To set goals for physical self-improvement.
Lesson 127: To set goals for intellectual self-improvement.
Lesson 129: To set goals for social and emotional self-improvement.
