This program provides summer opportunities for students to develop competence and confidence as well as workplace skills in one of the top career oriented positions in the industry today. Students will be exposed to career awareness and exploration while developing their career plans and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Students will interact with positive, successful adult role models to provide guidance in setting and achieving goals. This program will help to develop good work habits, build job skills, build confidence and self-worth, and strengthen communication skills.

Students are placed and monitored at assigned work sites and are expected to work 20 hours a week for a six week period. Students are paid a stipend of $7.25 an hour.

JOVEN is requesting your assistance to become a worksite to make positive changes in the lives of our students.

By participating in this program you will:

  • will provide a notable and invaluable experience
  • will teach students responsibility and importance of higher education
  • model professional etiquette and ethics

Is your business or organization interested in becoming a worksite? All at no cost to you, students are paid a stipend directly from JOVEN.  Parent/guardian is required to complete a Waiver of Liability releasing assigned worksites from any liability for the duration of the program.

Who We Serve

Students between the ages 14-17 who reside in one of the following Districts:
*Edgewood ISD
*Harlandale ISD
*Northside ISD
*San Antonio ISD
*South San ISD
*Southside ISD
*Southwest ISD

*Note: Student must not turn 18 between program dates of: June – July

Documents Required

*Application Packet (completed by student and parent)
*Student’s Valid Texas ID
*Student’s Social Security Card
*Student’s Birth Certificate
*Parent’s Current CPS/SAWS Bill
*Guardianship Court Ordered Paperwork if applicable

NOTE: Application, ID and Utility Bill must have same address or application will not be accepted.

After Student is Accepted into the Program:
*Student-Open and submit Direct Deposit Forms for both checking and savings account

Submit in person with all required documents at 507 E. Mayfield Blvd., San Antonio, TX 78214
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm.  *Applications are not accepted after 5:00 pm.
